LYDIA AINSWORTH

Composer for Film & TV

ABOUT

Lydia Ainsworth is a film and tv composer, singer, and album producer who crafts otherworldly soundscapes. Whatever her bespoke sound palette of choice may be ~ from synths, banjo choirs, 50 piece orchestras, to the clanging of rusty steel hub caps ~ Lydia's music always embodies emotionality and heart at its core.

She recently completed the score for Revival, a ten-episode supernatural horror-mystery series for NBC/SYFY. Her music has also appeared in Stranger Things (Season 3), the Sundance-premiered feature The Woods, and in internationally exhibited video art installations, including Sara Cwynar’s Glass Life at MoMA (New York). Additional credits include Good Behavior (TNT), Motherland: Fort Salem (Freeform), and global campaigns for Apple.

In 2024, Ainsworth was selected as one of ten composers worldwide for Spot The Composer at the Cannes Film Festival. Her work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.

Alongside her screen work, Ainsworth maintains a critically acclaimed career as a solo artist, having released five full-length albums. Her recordings have earned a Juno nomination for Best Electronic Album and a Polaris Prize nomination. She has performed internationally at major festivals including Roskilde and Way Out West, and has toured extensively throughout Japan, Europe, and North America.
